Subject Leader Statement – Miss Haynes
“Science plays a vital role in developing well-rounded pupils. Science stimulates and excites pupil’s curiosity about natural phenomena, while allowing them to understand how major scientific ideas contribute toward technological change.”
Every child is a Scientist. Here at Stewart Fleming Primary School we aim for our children to develop an enthusiasm and enjoyment of Science. We strive to develop their knowledge and understanding of important scientific ideas, processes and skills and encourage them to relate these to their everyday experiences. We teach children different ways of thinking, how to find out things and how to communicate their ideas effectively. We strive to make the children confident independent learners, to explore values and ideas through Science. We pride ourselves in the broad and balanced teaching of science and the opportunities that we give to help every child flourish in Science across the school. We believe that every child is a scientist and we nurture their curiosity and allow them to ask questions and develop the skills they need to answer those questions independently.
